Kettle Kickoff 2009

Help The Salvation Army kickoff our kettle season Nov. 12 at the St. Anthony Cub Foods (map) during a fun-filled event with free refreshments, cash for kindness and the unveiling of our Cardboard City. KOOL 108 will broadcast live from the event starting at 6 a.m.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Cash for kindness:  We're looking for 5,000 do-gooders.  People who perform a good deed on Nov. 12 and tell us about it here will have their act rewarded with a $1 donation to The Salvation Army courtesy of Cub Foods. Up to $5,000 in funds are available.

Donate to The Salvation Army by dropping money in a kettle at any Cub Foods location in the Twin Cities metro area. Cub will provide up to $5,000 in matching funds for donations made to these kettles on Nov. 12.

Sign up to be a volunteer bell ringer.

CARDBOARD CITY
The Salvation Army will showcase its Cardboard City exhibit, a 20-by-20 art display that makes observers feel like they are part of the art. The exhibit was created to raise awareness about
Ignore No More, The Salvation Army’s movement to end poverty, hunger and homelessness.

WEEKEND ACTIVITIES
The Salvation Army will have a booth at the Christian Community Fair, a free family event at the St. Paul River Centre on Nov. 13 from 4 p.m.–10 p.m. and Nov. 14 from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Visitors will receive a cloth shopping bag good for 5 percent off purchases made at Salvation Army thrift stores. Saturday at 11 a.m. local author Scott Cornwell will read and sign copies of his new Salvation Army-inspired children’s book, “The Bell.” In addition, The Salvation Army has sponsored the fair’s 100-plus-team dodgeball tournament on Saturday.

The Salvation Army is proud to partner with Cub Foods. Last year The Salvation Army raised $803,827 in kettle donations at Cub Foods storefronts.

The kettle campaign begins throughout the metro area on Friday, Nov. 13 and runs through Dec. 24.
