Donations Doubled in Plymouth and Online
Perennial bell ringer Elmer Schefers is providing tens of thousands of dollars in matching funds for kettle donations made Dec. 10 – 24 at three Plymouth grocery stores and online here.
The State Farm Insurance agent is using $22,000 to match donations made Dec. 10 – 24 at two Cub Foods stores: 2445 Nathan Lane and 3550 Vicksburg Lane N. He will also match donations made Dec. 21 – 22 at the Lunds grocery store in Plymouth, 3455 Vicksburg Lane.
This is the sixth straight Christmas season that Schefers has offered matching funds. Much of the money is his own, with the rest coming from friends, clients and coworkers. He also bell rings dozens of hours.
“The Salvation Army cannot thank Elmer Schefers enough for his annual fund-raising campaign,” said Major Darryl Leedom, commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. “His efforts provide countless people in need with food, shelter, clothing and more.”
