Christmas Stats are In


The following list includes facts and figures from various events held by the Twin Cities Salvation Army and its partners during the 2007 Christmas Campaign.

Stuff the Bus
Three-day toy collection drive in which school buses visited metro area Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores, where KS95 Radio personalities encouraged shoppers to donate new toys.

- More than 10,000 toys were collected.
- $12,372 was raised for toys through contributions from KS95, the public and Wal-Mart.

Bell ringing dollars raised at:
-Xcel Energy Center before six Minnesota Wild Games: $10,877
-Grand Meander, a St. Paul Christmas event along Grand Ave.: $1,286
-Celebrity Day at Mall of America: $1,420
-Metrodome before Vikings game vs. Chicago Bears: $895
-Buck the Boot, a Mpls Fire Department effort: $3,515
-Overall kettle donations across Twin Cities: $2.83 million

Adopt-a-Family
Community members purchased toys and grocery store gift cards for needy Twin Cities families and delivered the goods themselves. Donors signed up during a two-day radiothon on 102.9 LITE FM.

- Provided toys and a Christmas meal to 1,054 families, 3,177 children

Toy Lift
Christmas presents were given to the children of incarcerated parents. Salvation Army volunteers visited 10 Minnesota prisons.

- Provided toys to 2,522 kids ages 12 and younger.

Phone Home Program
POPP Telecom donated thousands of free long distance minutes for less fortunate Salvation Army families to call friends and loved ones.

KOOL 108 FM
Aired free, daily announcements encouraging the public to become bell ringers.
