Success Story: Woman Living in Car Moves into Home
Nicole Eschendal’s life fell apart last September after she was the victim of a terrible crime. The 22-year-old from Buffalo, Minn. was sexually assaulted, leaving her heavily depressed and unable to work.
Without a job she quickly became homeless. Her house became her ’91 Buick, which she slept in during the freezing cold of fall and winter. (read more)
T-Minus 19 Days Until The MOST Amazing Race!
The Salvation Army’s fourth annual MOST Amazing Race is back in a major way. With just 19 days to go, 57 teams of two have signed up for the July 25 event, a 14-team increase over last year. More than 100 teams are expected to register. The competition will be fierce when racers dash across the Twin Cities to find 10 different checkpoints, where they will complete a physical or mental challenge to advance to the next. (read more)
Harbor Light Chapel Opens in Downtown Minneapolis
The Salvation Army Harbor Light Shelter in downtown Minneapolis (1010 Currie Ave.) opened its new $2.4 million chapel during a worship service and dedication ceremony Sunday, June 28. The chapel "will provide critically needed space so that more people can meet with God and be transformed by Him from the inside out," Lt. Colonel Daniel Sjögren, Commander of The Salvation Army Northern Division, told a crowd of 300-plus people during the dedication. (read more)
