T-Minus 19 Days Until The MOST Amazing Race!
The Salvation Army’s fourth annual MOST Amazing Race is back in a major way. With just 19 days to go, 57 teams of two have signed up for the July 25 event, a 14-team increase over last year. More than 100 teams are expected to register.
The competition will be fierce when racers dash across the Twin Cities to find 10 different checkpoints, where they will complete a physical or mental challenge to advance to the next. Last year’s race had it all: upside-down bowling at Bryant Lake Bowl, singing the National Anthem inside Target Center, shooting paintball guns and much more. (For photos of past races, click here.)
“The challenges at this year’s MOST Amazing Race are sure to be wackier and even more intense,” said race organizer Julie Orlando.
Up for grabs is a $5,000 prize for the first-place team, plus two roundtrip tickets on Delta for the top fundraising team.
“So far, fundraising is down this year – which means the airfare prize could still go to anyone,” Orlando said.
Indeed, donation levels are drastically low. So far only $6,300 has been raised, nearly $4,000 less than the $10,270 that had been raised on this date for last year’s race. The overall goal is $35,000, all of which is used to fight hunger and homelessness in the Twin Cities through The Salvation Army Bed and Bread Club®.
Low donation levels aren’t keeping the husband/wife duo of Team Mullen from trying to raise all they can. They have set a goal of $3,200, which if achieved would mean they have raised $10,000 for The Salvation Army in their three years of competing in The MOST Amazing Race.
“Not only does (the race) give us an opportunity to have a lot of fun, but we also are able to raise money for a really worthy cause,” Team Mullen wrote on their fundraising page.
