The Salvation Army Begins Long-Term Relief for Hugo Tornado Survivors
The Salvation Army has shifted its focus from meeting the immediate needs of Hugo’s tornado survivors to assisting them long-term. About 60 homes suffered major damage or complete destruction in the May 25 twister, leaving dozens of individuals and families homeless. The Salvation Army is coordinating up to six months of housing assistance for these people. (read more)

War Reenactment Features Salvation Army "Doughnut Girls"
Would a war reenactment be complete without Salvation Army Doughnut Girls serving free coffee and doughnuts on the frontlines? People at Living Military History Day in LeCenter, Minn., didn’t think so. The May 31 event featured mock battles of World Wars I and II, complete with bomb-dropping planes, paratroopers, tanks and field artillery, plus women who quietly served coffee and doughnuts on the frontlines – Doughnut Girls. Mankato Golf Tourney Raises $20,000
What started as a golfing fundraiser that barely made par has become one of the Mankato Salvation Army’s biggest events of the year. On May 9 more than 110 golfers chipped and putted their way toward raising $20,000 during the Mankato Salvation Army’s 7th Annual Golf Classic. (read more)
