What Month is March, Anyway?

It’s the best month all year that you can donate to Salvation Army food shelves – that’s what month.

For the 27th year in a row, Minnesota FoodShare is holding its annual “March Campaign” to restock food shelves across the state. Through the campaign, Minnesota FoodShare will match a portion of every dollar or pound of food that The Salvation Army receives in March.

The Salvation Army needs the extra help for its 19 Minnesota food shelves, which serve tens of thousands of people.

“Due to the economy, the number of people requiring assistance at our food shelves is way up, while donation levels are down,” said Lt. Col. Daniel Sjögren, Commander of The Salvation Army Northern Division. “Through the March Campaign, giving food or money to The Salvation Army this month is the perfect way for donors to stretch the value of their donation, while helping people during their greatest hour of need.”

Donating to Salvation Army food shelves is easy:
  - Give money by clicking here. Be sure to designate your donation as “food shelf.”
  - Drop off nonperishable food items at any of The Salvation Army’s six Twin Cities food shelves.

Minnesota FoodShare, a program of the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churces, is an interfaith collaboration that fights hunger through community action. Its March Campaign has raised millions of dollars and pounds of food for state food shelves since it began in 1983.
