Williston Thrift Store

New Thrift Store Opens in Williston, N.D.

For years, The Salvation Army’s thrift store in Williston, N.D. was located in a relatively cramped space with limited inventory.

Not anymore. Earlier this month, the thrift store moved from Main Street to 14 W. Broadway Ave. (click for photo), a former hardware store building that is about 2,500 square-feet larger.

“We needed something bigger,” said Major James Castor, administrator of the Williston Salvation Army. “This new store will allow us to carry a lot more inventory.”

The location is better, too. Unlike the old store, the new one rests on a major Williston thoroughfare.

A ribbon cutting ceremony (click for photo) was held the morning of May 4. Soon after, the store was bustling with customers.

“We are absolutely busy, everything is going very well,” Castor said on the afternoon of opening day.

The store’s one glitch, Castor said, is that it has received few donations of furniture – a common problem among thrift stores as of late.

In addition to furniture, the store accepts donations of new or gently used clothes, household items, electronics, books and much more. Thrift store sales are used to serve people in need through countless Salvation Army programs.

Donations can be dropped off 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the back of the store. If you have large items, call the Williston thrift store at 701-572-2217 to arrange pickup.

The store is open for business 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information about Salvation Army thrift stores, click here.
