Vikings/Packers Challenge

Vikings Battle Packers in Red Kettle Challenge

Hey, at least the Minnesota Vikings beat the Green Bay Packers on the field.

Unfortunately, on Oct. 30, the Vikings lost to the Packers during The Salvation Army’s “Red Kettle Challenge.” (View photos.)

The event featured Jared Allen, Pat Williams, Ray Edwards and other Vikings defensive linemen signing autographs and gathering donations at Mall of America while a group of Packers wide receivers simultaneously did the same at Lambeau Field.

The final score: Vikings – $5,872, Packers – $11,501.

“A tough loss indeed,” said Major Darryl Leedom, commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. “But when it comes to raising money to help people in need, there are never any losers. We thank the Vikings, Packers and everyone who donated to this fantastic effort for helping The Salvation Army raise more than $17,000.”

Of the Vikings’ final dollar amount, $2,700 was raised through the team’s online red kettle.

You, too, can start your own online kettle and begin gathering donations for The Salvation Army this Christmas season. For more information, please
