Hundreds Attend Mankato Salvation Army Halloween Party

The Mankato Salvation Army held its fifth-annual Halloween party Oct. 31 at the Mankato Armory.

About 200 kids came dressed in animal, superhero and other costumes. The free event featured hot dogs, cotton candy, an obstacle course, sumo wrestling suits, ring tosses and more.

“My favorite was the bungee run,” said Noah James, 15, referring to an attraction in which kids strapped themselves to a bungee cord, ran forward and were catapulted backward onto on an inflated pad.

Subway Corp. has sponsored the event for the past two years.

“This event provides kids a safe, fun alternative to street trick-or-treating,” said Captain Bill Mealy, leader of the Mankato Salvation Army.
