Minnesota Vikings Help The Salvation Army Gather Coats for Kids

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Robert Ferguson and five of his teammates gathered 169 youth jacket donations Oct. 1 at the Eden Prairie Kowalski’s Market on behalf of The Salvation Army Coats for Kids program, which this fall is aiming to collect 7,000 winter jackets for children in need. Duluth Salvation Army Helps Distribute 60,000 Meals
The Duluth Salvation Army got an unexpected mega-donation on Sept. 23: an entire semi-truck of frozen Italian dinners. Exactly 60,000 Michelina’s® frozen dinners arrived to the Duluth Salvation Army that morning from Bellisio Foods Inc., owned by famed Duluth businessman and philanthropist Jeno Paulucci. (read more)

"Stuff the School Bus" 2008 Yields Bigger Contributions
In the three “Stuff the School Bus” events that The Salvation Army and KS95 have held since 2006, none have yielded more big-ticket items. Stuff the School Bus is a month-long donation drive that provides new school supplies to children of low-income families through contributions made at Twin Cities metro area Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores. This year the program collected 100 more calculators and 220 more backpacks than last year. (read more)

Inner-City Youth Raise Money for Charity by Drawing
The West 7th Salvation Army in St. Paul was among 20 U.S. sites that received a free drawing lesson Sept. 12 from Young Rembrandts, a national program that teaches art to children. The theme of the day was stagecoaches. About a dozen children drew and then colored their pictures of the old-time wagons. (read more)
