SERVICE EXTENSION
The Salvation Army's service extends to all counties in Minnesota and North Dakota through its Service Extension program, which has had a presence in rural Minnesota and North Dakota for more than 50 years. A service unit is a volunteer committee organized to represent The Salvation Army in communities where the Army has no professional uniformed personnel or worship and service center.
Service units strive to help neighbors in their community resolve crises or emergencies with practical aid, personal support, and compassion. Additional service unit programming includes Service Extension Camp, Community Care Ministry, Angel Tree, MN Vision Project, HeatShare, Holiday Food Baskets/Dinners, Back-to-School and more.
Service extension units are located in 112 counties throughout Minnesota and North Dakota. The strength of a service unit comes through active involvement by citizens committed to their community and its residents.
