Benefit Concert at Old Log Theater Will Feature Don Shelby, Ron Schara, 5 Other Local Broadcasters
January 5, 2012 – Local TV and radio broadcasters will hold a benefit concert for the Twin Cities Salvation Army at the renowned Old Log Theater in Excelsior on Monday, Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
The entertainment will include former news anchor Don Shelby and his Bluegrass Band, plus singing performances by Jearlyn Steele (WCCO-AM), Patty Peterson (KBEM-FM), Arne Fogel (MPR), Diana Pierce (KARE-TV), Ron and Denise Schara (KARE-TV and WCCO-AM), and pianist Butch Thompson (KBEM-FM).
Others scheduled to perform are jazz pianist Jeanne Arland Peterson, guitarist Reuben Ristrom, and popular pianist Judy Moen. Longtime broadcaster Bob Fransen will emcee the program.
"Having the support of our community through innovative fundraisers like this is imperative for the Twin Cities Salvation Army to continue its critical services," said Major Jeff Strickler, Salvation Army Twin Cities Commander.
