McDonald’s in Int’l Falls Donating Sales of
Coffee,
Hotcakes to Haiti Disaster Relief
Salvation Army kettles will be onsite Jan. 15 – 24
INTERNATIONAL FALLS, Minn. – January 15, 2010 – This week the local McDonald’s restaurant here will be supporting Haiti disaster relief by giving to The Salvation Army and hosting red kettles.
On Jan. 15, proceeds from all of the restaurant’s coffee sales will be given to The Salvation Army.
On Jan. 17 and 24, proceeds from all hotcakes sales will also be given to The Salvation Army. Although hotcakes are normally available for breakfast-only, McDonald’s will make them during afternoon hours on both days.
Salvation Army counter kettles – smaller versions of those seen at Christmastime – will be placed near the restaurant’s cash registers Jan. 15 – 24. On Jan. 17, Salvation Army bell ringers will collect donations via a traditional red kettle placed inside the restaurant.
The McDonald’s in nearby Fort Frances, Ontario is also supporting the effort by giving The Salvation Army all proceeds from its hotcakes sales Jan. 17 and 24.
One hundred percent of the donations received from McDonald’s and local residents will be used for Haiti disaster recovery.
“We thank McDonald’s and the local community for supporting The Salvation Army and our efforts to save the lives of thousands of Haitians struggling to survive after Tuesday’s earthquake,” said Beverly Mayfield, administrator of the International Falls Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army serves in more than 100 countries and provides both immediate emergency assistance and long-term recovery help in the event of any disaster. Funds for The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services come from corporate and private donations given specifically for disaster relief.
