Hot Off the Griddle: $1,800 Donation
The local McDonald’s restaurant in International Falls, Minn., has raised nearly $1,800 for The Salvation Army’s disaster relief efforts in Haiti.
On Jan. 17 and 24, proceeds from all of the restaurant’s hotcakes sales were given to The Salvation Army. To maximize the donation, the restaurant sold the hotcakes not just for breakfast, but all day long.
All of the restaurant’s coffee sales on Jan. 15 were given as well. In addition, Salvation Army counter kettles – smaller versions of those seen at Christmastime – were placed near the restaurant’s cash registers
Jan. 15 – 24.
On Jan. 17, Salvation Army bell ringers collected donations via a traditional red kettle placed inside the restaurant.
The McDonald’s in nearby Fort Frances, Ontario also supported the effort by giving The Salvation Army all proceeds from its hotcakes sales Jan. 17 and 24.
One hundred percent of the donations received from the McDonald’s and local residents are being used for Haiti disaster recovery.
“We thank McDonald’s and the local community for supporting The Salvation Army and our efforts to save the lives of thousands of Haitians struggling to survive,” said Beverly Mayfield, administrator of the International Falls Salvation Army.
