Final Christmas Numbers Announced for MN, ND

The final numbers are in.

During Christmas 2010, The Salvation Army Northern Division raised $22.9 million in Minnesota and North Dakota – a $2 million increase over 2009. These numbers represent all donations received via kettles, mail, text-message giving, the Internet and by phone in a three-month period.

Of the $22.9 million, $6.3 million was raised in kettles.

Of the dozens of Salvation Army units in the Northern Division, three-fourths of them raised more money during Christmas 2010 than Christmas 2009. One-fourth raised less.

The Northern Division is part of The Salvation Army Central Territory, which includes 11 Midwestern states. The Central Territory raised $140 million during Christmas 2010, $42 million of which came from kettle donations.

During the entire year, the Northern Division raises about $32 million in public contributions. Nationally, The Salvation Army raises about $848 million.
