PRESS RELEASE

Salvation Army Serving in Flood Threatened Areas

March 22, 2010 – Salvation Army disaster relief teams are scattered across North Dakota and Minnesota along the swelling rivers where sandbagging operations have been a mainstay throughout March. More than 100 support volunteers and three-dozen command staff have served 16,300 meals and twice as many snacks and drinks to volunteer sandbaggers, National Guard troops and emergency crews.

While the good news is that preventative measures have protected most homes and businesses from flood damage, there are some residents who have had flood damage. For these residents The Salvation Army is handing out clean-up kits and providing financial assistance for flood damage.

For assistance please contact your local Salvation Army or call 1-800-456-4483 to find your nearest Salvation Army assistance center.
