PRESS RELEASE

The Salvation Army of Bismarck Serves More than 5,000 Meals

Bismarck, ND – March 31, 2009 – To date, The Salvation Army of Bismarck has spent 1,104 hours serving more than 5,068 prepared meals and 3,188 snacks.  These services continued Monday despite a blizzard that blanketed the city in more than a foot of snow.

“If the weather holds we will be able to scale down our response and begin moving into the recovery phase,” said Major Lee Morrison, administrator of the Bismarck Salvation Army. “The Salvation Army remains ready to meet the needs of those affected by the flood."

Three mobile feeding units (canteens) continue to provide nourishment to area residents and volunteers. Clean-up kits, food assistance, personal care kits and groceries are available for families affected by the recent flooding.  The Salvation Army is also providing food assistance to households that have received family members from flooded out-state areas.
