The Salvation Army Activates Social Services Programs
for Flood-Affected Families
Eligible MN, ND households to receive food, gas, clothing
April 2, 2009 – The Salvation Army has activated social services programs for flood-affected families in need throughout Minnesota and North Dakota.
Households may contact their local Salvation Army to determine their eligibility for food, fuel, clothing and other basic needs items.
“Although flood waters have retreated in much of the Red River Valley and beyond, hundreds of families in Fargo, Bismarck and elsewhere still lost their homes,” said Lt. Colonel Daniel Sjögren, Commander of The Salvation Army Northern Division, which serves Minnesota and North Dakota. “The Salvation Army has not forgotten these families. We will continue to meet the unmet needs of the communities we serve.”
To date, Salvation Army personnel have provided more than 100,000 meals, 175,000 drinks and 175,000 snacks to flood volunteers and first responders across Minnesota and North Dakota.
