PRESS RELEASE

New Salvation Army Thrift Store
Coming to Faribault

FARIBAULT, Minn. – June 14, 2010 The Salvation Army is proud to announce that it will soon open a new Thrift Store in Faribault at Faribo West Mall, 200 Western Ave. N.W. Although no exact date has been set, the 16,400-square-foot store is expected to open sometime in August.

The store is accepting applications for four full-time and four part-time positions. Like all Salvation Army Thrift Stores, the new one in Faribault will also rely on volunteer staff members. Job applications are available by emailing Sara Pirkl or calling 507-455-2023. For volunteer information, contact Sara Pirkl or call Ed Little at 507-210-9600.

Merchandise donations will begin to be accepted several weeks before the store opens. Acceptable donations include gently used clothing, household items, small appliances, furniture, games, sporting goods, books, tools and more. For a complete list of acceptable and unacceptable items, please click here.

The new Thrift Store will offer great deals on quality used merchandise and provide financial support to critical Salvation Army programs. Store proceeds will fund Salvation Army services throughout Rice County including the cities of Faribault, Northfield and Lonsdale.  Proceeds will also support The Salvation Army Northwoods Camp in Finlayson, Minn., which serves children from Rice County and other areas of The Salvation Army Northern Division who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience summer camp.

The Salvation Army Northern Division has been serving Minnesota and North Dakota communities since 1886. Today the Northern Division includes operation centers in dozens of cities across both states. These centers provide food, shelter, spiritual enrichment and more to about 500,000 people a year.
