Bismarck Salvation Army Responding
to
Disaster in Dickinson, N.D.
BISMARCK, N.D. – July 9, 2009 – A Salvation Army mobile feeding unit (canteen) and volunteers from the Bismarck Salvation Army have been deployed to Dickinson, N.D., where last night a suspected tornado ripped roofs from homes and downed power lines in the southern part of the city. No major injuries were reported.
Volunteers from the Bismarck Salvation Army are expected to arrive in Dickinson early this evening and begin providing food, hydration and emotional support to residents and relief workers. Additional volunteers from Bismarck are scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
The Salvation Army will serve sandwiches made this afternoon by volunteers in Bismarck, along with hot dogs, bottled water and snacks.
Dickinson officials requested The Salvation Army remain on site for at least 48 hours.
