Last Chance to Register for July 23 "MOST Amazing Race"


ROSEVILLE, Minn. – July 19, 2011 –
The Salvation Army’s “MOST Amazing Race” kicks off this Saturday, July 23, when dozens of two-person teams will scramble across Minneapolis and St. Paul to perform mental and physical challenges at popular local venues. The winning team gets $5,000 courtesy of Luther Auto, and the top fundraising team wins two Delta Air Lines tickets.

The 6th annual race and official Minneapolis Aquatennial event begins with a 10 a.m. qualifying race at the University of Minnesota Bierman Track and Field Stadium. Qualifying teams advance to the MOST Amazing Race, which begins and ends in Minneapolis at Stone Arch Bridge. The race starts at 2 p.m., with finish-line festivities beginning at 5:30 p.m.

During the race, teams travel to challenge locations by foot or aboard Metro Transit. Past challenges have included rock climbing, eating disgusting foods, ice skating, scouring museums for artifacts, singing, dancing and much more.

Since 2006 the MOST Amazing Race has raised nearly $215,000 for The Salvation Army's Bed and Bread Club®, which alleviates hunger and homelessness in the Twin Cities.

The Twin Cities Salvation Army serves more than 214,000 people a year through its 25 local centers of operation. Daily it serves 2,100 hot meals and shelters 900 people. More than 33,000 local volunteers help The Salvation Army provide a multitude of services, from child daycare to senior housing.
