Salvation Army Update on Bridge Collapse Relief Efforts

MINNEAPOLIS – August 3, 2007 Salvation Army emergency disaster services personnel continue to provide physical, emotional and spiritual aid to hundreds of relief workers and survivors following the I-35W bridge collapse.

A Salvation Army emergency disaster services vehicle (canteen) is located on the 10 th Ave. bridge, right next to the wreckage. Volunteers are serving food and drink to relief workers, police officers, state officials and others. A Salvation Army officer (pastor) is also on hand.

Working jointly with the Red Cross, The Salvation Army is serving meals at the reception center of the Minneapolis Holiday Inn, 1500 Washington Ave. S. The food is being provided to mental health workers and families affected by the disaster.

Target Corp., Macy’s Inc. and Cub Foods have donated tens of thousands of dollars in food and beverages to The Salvation Army in the past two days.
