Wal-Mart Donates $20,000 for Flood Relief Efforts in Southeastern MN

ROSEVILLE, MN –August 31 , 2007 Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has donated $20,000 to assist in The Salvation Army’s emergency disaster services (EDS) efforts following deadly storms that plagued southeastern Minnesota.

Teams from Minnesota and North Dakota have been bringing help and hope to residents and emergency responders since Aug. 18 when torrential rains devastated a seven-county area.

Ten Salvation Army personnel, 34 volunteers and three canteens are currently stationed in southeastern Minnesota. To date, more than 12,500 meals have been served and nearly $17,000 has been distributed to assist homeowners in clean up efforts.

The Salvation Army has established a hotline, 1-800-721-4202, and disaster assistance centers have been set-up in all six counties declared disaster areas allowing residents easy access to assistance.
