KS95 Holding Back-to-School Drive for Salvation Army Kids
“Stuff the School Bus” runs through Aug. 24 at Twin Cities Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club stores
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – August 5, 2009The Salvation Army and KS95 radio have teamed up for year four of “Stuff the School Bus,” a vital program that provides new school supplies to children of low-income families.
Collection bins are set up through Aug. 24 at Twin Cities metro area Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores for the public to donate new stationery products, backpacks, calculators and other school supplies for kids all ages.
KS95's on-air talent will tour with the radio station’s “Stuff the School Bus” motor coach Aug. 7 – 9 at area Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club and encourage shoppers to pack the vehicle full of school supplies. (See tour schedule at bottom.)
“Last year’s Stuff the School Bus gathered nearly 45,000 stationery items that helped countless children start off their school year right,” said Major Darryl Leedom, Commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. “Adequate school supplies are essential to getting children enthusiastic about learning.”
Stuff the School Bus is presented by KS95, Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club, and is sponsored by 5 Eyewitness News, First Student Transportation, Sylvan Learning, Jennie-O Turkey Store® and Malt-O-Meal®.

KS95 also “Stuffs the Bus” with toys during the Christmas season for The Salvation Army’s Toy Shop, which distributes gifts to needy families.
The Salvation Army serves more than 200,000 people in the Twin Cities and is a safety net for those with no place to turn. It serves 2,100 hot meals a day and houses more than 850 people every night.
