Flight Attendants Holding 48-Hour Donation Drive
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – October 5, 2009 – Flight attendants and other airline industry workers used to dealing with jet lag will soon have their ability to stay awake tested to the max when they hold a two-day, round-the-clock donation drive benefiting The Salvation Army.
Starting at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, members of the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) and the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers (IAM) will hold the 48-hour donation event at the parking lot of the AFA Northwest Airlines Building C, located near the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport at the corner of 34th Ave. and E. 75th St. (just north of 494). The drive ends Saturday, Oct. 24 at noon.
A Salvation Army truck will be on hand to collect donations of new or gently used clothes and coats, new toys and non-perishable food items. Monetary donations will be accepted at nearby Wings Financial.
“We are encouraging the public to come and support this wonderful and worthwhile effort by the AFA and IAM,” said Major Darryl Leedom, Commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. “Through their efforts, families will be clothed and fed, and children will not be disappointed when they wake up on Christmas morning.”
For more information call the AFA at 952-241-4127 or the IAM Local 1833 at 612-790-2221.
