National Retailers Donate Millions to The Salvation Army
November 12, 2008 – The Salvation Army has received millions of dollars in the past two weeks from some of the nation’s top retailers.
On Nov. 6, the Wal-Mart Foundation announced a $1.25 million grant to The Salvation Army. In addition, the Wal-Mart Foundation invited customers to give early when it hosted bell ringers for a special day of giving on Saturday, Nov. 8. Red kettles will be stationed at Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores from Nov. 28 – Dec. 24.
On Nov. 12, Target announced a $1 million donation to The Salvation Army to revitalize the organization’s libraries, media center and educational facilities across the country. The contribution includes $25,000 grants to all of The Salvation Army’s 40 U.S. divisions.
The Salvation Army serves more than 200,000 people in the Twin Cities and is a safety net for those with no place to turn.
