Volunteers Desperately Needed to Register
Families for Holiday Assistance

Phone operators needed weekdays from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – November 21, 2008 – The Salvation Army desperately needs volunteers to help register families calling for Christmas assistance.

A call center is open until Dec. 23 every weekday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., when 30 volunteers at a time are needed to take calls from families registering for assistance at Salvation Army Toy Shops. Volunteer shifts typically last four hours.

“Right now we’re getting about five volunteers per shift,” said Major Darryl Leedom, commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. “We need way more help.”

About 14,000 families are expected to sign up for assistance at Salvation Army Toy Shops, which distribute grocery store gift cards and tens of thousands of toys. The Toy Shops will be held at the Minneapolis and St. Paul National Guard Armories Dec. 18 – 20 and Dec. 22.

The call center is located at 2445 Prior Ave. N. in Roseville. To volunteer, click here or call 651-746-3426.
