Win NHL All-Star Tickets With Your Online Red Kettle

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – November 26, 2008 –The Salvation Army’s new collaboration with the National Hockey League (NHL) allows fans in the U.S. and Canada to donate in an exciting way through “Online Red Kettles,” the Internet counterpart to The Salvation Army’s traditional physical red kettles.

During The Salvation Army’s 2008 Red Kettle Campaign, fans can use a pull-down menu at NHL.com to select and join their favorite team with their own personal kettle.  The individual whose NHL.com Online Red Kettle provides the most financial support to the Campaign will receive an NHL All-Star Game prize package that includes two tickets to the 2009 NHL All-Star Game Weekend, Jan. 23-25 in Montreal.  The prize features two tickets each to the NHL SuperSkills® Competition, the 57th NHL All-Star Game and NHL VIP pre- and post-game receptions.  More information is available at http://NHL.onlineredkettle.com.

Individuals, businesses and organizations nationwide can host their own “virtual” red kettles on their personal, group or company website to help raise funds through an individual, team or company kettle. 100 percent of transactions are tax deductible and will stay in the communities where they were raised.  

Both online and physical kettles collect money to help the Army provide toys for kids, coats for the homeless, food for the hungry and countless social service programs year-round.

Minnesota Wild to Host The Salvation Army at Seven Home Games

The Minnesota Wild and The Salvation Army have announced a partnership that will have Salvation Army bell ringers at seven home games, beginning this Friday, Nov. 28, and continuing through Tuesday, Dec. 23.

Bell Ringers will be at Gates 1, 2, 3 and inside at Gate 5 during all the Wild home games in that span – Nov. 28, Dec. 1, Dec. 3, Dec. 5, Dec. 17, Dec. 19 and Dec. 23.

In addition, the Wild/Minnesota Sports & Entertainment Community Giving Fund will match all Red Kettle donations made at the arena on Wednesday, Dec. 17, when the Wild take on the Calgary Flames. Also Dec. 17, St. Paul firefighters will serve as Bell Ringers. 

The Wild is helping The Salvation Army in other ways this holiday season as well. Nordy and other local mascots will be at Southdale Mall on Friday, Dec. 19 taking Red Kettle donations. Also, fans can donate to The Salvation Army through a link on Wild.com. In addition, Wild wives are providing Christmas gifts to St. Paul families through The Salvation Army’s “Adopt-A-Family” program.
