Annual ‘Stuff the Bus’ toy drive crucial in meeting need

December 10, 2009 – ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Nearly 18,000 families have registered to receive toys and grocery gift cards at Twin Cities Salvation Army metro area Toy Shops, a 4,000-family increase over 2008. Christmas assistance registration closes today at 6 p.m.

“As it stands now, we do not have the resources to serve this many families,” said Major Darryl Leedom, commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. “Our prayer is that KS95’s ‘Stuff the Bus’ donation drive will explode and cover the need.”

Stuff the Bus, held Dec. 11–13, is a toy drive in which KS95 on-air personalities visit metro area Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores aboard Jefferson Lines coach buses and encourage shoppers to fill the buses with new toys.

The public can donate new, unwrapped toys at the buses, or until Dec. 21 in toy collection bins at 26 metro area Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores and – new this year – at CineMagic Atlantis 15 in Burnsville and CineMagic Metropolitan 15 in St. Michael.

A complete Stuff the Bus tour schedule and list of drop-off locations can be found here.
