PRESS RELEASE

Best Buy to Give The Salvation Army
Invaluable Toy Contributions

Distributions to be held Dec. 12 and 18

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – December 11, 2008 – Best Buy Co. Inc. and its employees are providing invaluable support to the Twin Cities Salvation Army this holiday season through two major toy contributions.

On Dec. 12 at 1 p.m., a truckload of toys donated by Best Buy Headquarters employees in Richfield will be delivered to The Salvation Army’s own headquarters (address at top) and later distributed at Salvation Army Toy Shops in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Transportation of these toys will be provided free of charge by Eagan-based K2 and CW Logistics.

On Dec. 18, Best Buy itself will donate toys valued at more than $15,000. These toys will be distributed at The Salvation Army’s Toy Shop in St. Paul.

“Best Buy’s toy donations will be invaluable to our Toy Shops and the people we serve,” said Major Darryl Leedom, Commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. “Given the toll the economic crisis is taking on us, Best Buy’s help is an absolute blessing.”

Toy Shops will run Dec. 18, 19, 20 and 22 at the National Guard Armories in Minneapolis and St. Paul. More than 40,000 children will benefit from the estimated 100,000 toys that will be distributed.

The Salvation Army serves more than 200,000 people in the Twin Cities and is a safety net for those with no place to turn. We serve 2,100 hot meals every day and house more than 850 people every night. To volunteer with The Salvation Army or to make a credit card donation, call 651-746-3400 or 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
