Foundation Donating $100 Bill for Every $20 Bill Given Dec. 17 at 'Buck the Boot' in Minneapolis

December 16, 2009 – ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Deluxe Corp. Foundation today announced it will donate a $100 bill for every $20 bill given during “Buck the Boot,” an annual event featuring Minneapolis firefighters who bell ring for The Salvation Army.  

Buck the Boot will take place Dec. 17 from 11 a.m.–7 p.m. along Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, when dozens of firefighters will collect donations using firefighter boots instead of Salvation Army kettles.

The foundation has committed $10,000 to this matching effort.

Foundation,” said Major Darryl Leedom, commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. “Their support has come at a time when thousands of people served by the Twin Cities Salvation Army are in dire need.”

Deluxe Corp. is a Shoreview, Minn.-based marketing company. Its foundation has given more than $85 million to education, arts and human services programs since 1952.

The Twin Cities Salvation Army serves more than 200,000 people a year through its 25 local centers of operation. Daily it serves 2,000 hot meals and shelters 850 people. More than 14,000 local volunteers help The Salvation Army provide a multitude of services, from child daycare to senior housing.
