‘Everyday Heroes’ Bell Ringing to
Support The Salvation Army

Twin Cities firefighters, police officers staffing kettles Dec. 19

December 17, 2009 – ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Twin Cities firefighters and police officers will bell ring across the metro area Dec. 19 as part of “Everyday Heroes” day, a Salvation Army campaign that raises money for people in need while simultaneously allowing the public to thank the uniformed men and women who keep them safe everyday.

“When disaster strikes, The Salvation Army and emergency personnel work together to serve those in crisis,” said Major Darryl Leedom, commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. “We are proud to honor and recognize the firefighters and police officers who serve the Twin Cities community.”

More than 20 police and fire department groups will bell ring during Everyday Heroes day for a total of nearly 260 hours. Some of the groups and their bell ringing locations include:

• Andover Fire Dept., Festival Foods, 2218 Bunker Lake Blvd., Andover, 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
• Chisago County Police, Brinks Market, 11470 Brink Ave, Chisago City, 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
• Coon Rapids Police Dept., Cub Foods, 2050 Northdale Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, 2 p.m.–8 p.m.
• Elk River Fire Dept., Wal-Mart, 18185 Zane St. NW, Elk River, 10 a.m.–8 p.m. 
• Eagan Fire Dept., Wal-Mart, 1360 Town Centre Dr., Eagan, 12 p.m.–6 p.m.
• Eden Prairie Fire Dept., Cub Foods, 8015 Den Rd., Eden Prairie, 11 a.m.–8 p.m.
• St. Anthony Fire Dept., Cub Foods, 3930 Silver Lake Rd. NE, St. Anthony, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
• Wayzata Fire Dept., Hot Mama, 687 Lake Street East, Wayzata, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

The Twin Cities Salvation Army serves more than 200,000 people a year through its 25 local centers of operation. Daily it serves 2,000 hot meals and shelters 850 people.
