‘Everyday Heroes’ Bell Ring to Support The Salvation Army
Firefighters, police and other emergency workers bell ringing Dec. 20

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – December 19, 2008 – Twin Cities firefighters, police and other emergency workers will bell ring across the metro area all day Saturday, Dec. 20. Their effort is part of The Salvation Army’s “Everyday Heroes” bell ringing day that allows the public to thank the uniformed men and women who keep them safe.

About 200 hours of bell ringing will be filled by nearly 20 groups. Some of the groups and their bell ringing locations include:

- Coon Rapids Police Reserves: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Cub Foods, 205 Northdale Blvd., Coon Rapids

- Lake Elmo Fire Department: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Hagberg Market, 11325 Stillwater Blvd. N., Stillwater

- Eden Prairie Fire Department: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., Rainbow Foods, 970 Prairie Center Dr., Eden Prairie

- Bloomington Fire Department: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., Festival Foods, 401 W. 98th St., Bloomington.

Additional groups will bell ring in Andover, Anoka, Apple Valley, Crystal, Eagan, Elk River, Inver Grove Heights, New Brighton, Oakdale, Ramsey, Robbinsdale and St. Anthony.

“When disasters hit, The Salvation Army and emergency personnel work together and support each other,” said Major Darryl Leedom, Commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army.  “We are proud to honor and recognize these people through Everyday Heroes.”
  
The Salvation Army serves more than 200,000 people in the Twin Cities and is a safety net for those with no place to turn. We serve 2,100 hot meals every day and house more than 850 people every night.
