PRESS RELEASE

$1.5 Million Match: Donations to
Twin Cities Salvation Army Tripled Dec. 22–23

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – December 21, 2010  Record snowfall, record deficit – and now a record-setting matching opportunity.

On Wednesday, Dec. 22 and Thursday, Dec. 23 all donations made to the Twin Cities Salvation Army will be tripled thanks to a record-setting $1.5 million worth of matching funds.

“That means your $50 donation will be worth $150, your $100 donation will be worth $300, and so on,” said Major Darryl Leedom, commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. “Our goal is to raise $500,000 through this match. If this goal is reached, we will have raised $2 million in just two days. Please give during this unprecedented opportunity and triple the impact of your donation.”

The $1.5 million match is the largest in Twin Cities Salvation Army history. It is made possible by seven local families and individuals, including Peter King, Clifford and Nancy Anderson, and David and Sandy Frauenshuh. Other families chose to remain anonymous.

These donors pooled their money together to help The Salvation Army out of a Christmas crisis: Donations have decreased $350,000 compared to last year, a record deficit due in part to the record snowstorm that fell Dec. 11. As of Dec. 20, the Twin Cities Salvation Army has raised about $4.4 million of its $9.5 million goal for Christmas season donations.
