DISASTER TRAINING COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Intro to Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services--
This course is to introduce participants to The Salvation Army, Emergency Disaster Services, and to prepare them for a disaster assignment.
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
-Explain the history, mission and organization of The Salvation Army.
Identify the principle disaster relief services The Salvation Army offers during an emergency.

Describe the disaster worker deployment process and recall how to properly prepare for, conduct, and safely return home from an assignment
Disaster Food Services Delivery and Handling--REGISTER NOW
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
-Provide an overview of The Salvation Army’s approach to disaster food services
-Operate and maintain food service equipment
-Handle and deliver food in a safe and sanitary manner
-Apply plans, tools and techniques to provide food service in a disaster
Incident Command System Course--
Identify nine primary positions, their functions and responsibilities
Identify nine key ICS management principles
Identify roles and responsibilities of ICS positions
Identify The Salvation Army’s key ICS facilities
Diagram an ICS organizational chart
Disaster Services Safety Course--
Provide for an understanding on the importance of the Safety Officer in risk management under the Incident Command System. Provides an overview on the government regulations required when responding to disasters/emergencies. Discuss the key elements in managing risk. Apply the risk management process. The Incident Command Course is a recommended prerequisite or supplement to this course.
Critical Incident Stress Management: Grief Following Trauma--
In the course of one’s career, it is inevitable that professionals will encounter traumatic death and loss issues both personally and professionally. Professionals often feel ill prepared to provide effective care throughout the grief process. This course will cover key grief and loss concepts relating to trauma and traumatic death. Participants will increase their knowledge of how trauma impacts the grief process and will gain skills for evaluating and supporting persons who have experienced traumatic death and loss. This course is designed for anyone who works with people who experience grief and loss following a traumatic event.
